Ultrasound

Who: This test is generally considered safe and can be done by anyone who would like to have their internal organs check for some possible ailments. 

 

What: It is a device that uses high frequency sound waves to create an image of some part of the inside of the body, such as the stomach, liver, tendons, muscles, joints and blood vessels. 

 

Why: It is usually done for either diagnosis or treatment. As well as for guidance during procedures that require intervention, such as biopsies.

 

When: It is recommended to do ultrasound to diagnose and examine the body's internal organs including but not limited to: liver, gallbladder, speen, pnacreas, kidney and more. 

 

How: For most ultrasound exams, you will be positioned lying face-up on an examination table that can be tilted or moved. A thick gel will be applied on your body over the region to be examined which will help facilitate the transmission of sound waves through your body.
